What to Expect After Your Chemical Peel

You may experience some residual redness following your peel, which can last up to 12 hours. 

Your skin may also feel tight or pulled the evening of your treatment.

Avoid applying makeup on the same day, it’s best to let your skin rest overnight.

Over the next 3–7 days, you can expect light to moderate flaking as your skin renews itself. This is a normal and temporary part of the healing process.

How to Care for Your Skin

To ensure optimal results and minimize complications, follow these instructions for 5–7 days after your chemical peel:

  • Use the post-procedure products provided or recommended by your aesthetician for 5–7 days.

  • Keep your skin well-hydrated, as hydration is key to healing.

  • Discontinue any products that cause irritation.

What to Avoid

For best results and to prevent irritation or damage, avoid the following activities and products for the recommended period:

Immediately After Your Peel

  • Do not cleanse your skin the evening of your peel.

  • Do not pick, rub, or pull any flaking skin.

For 2 Days Post-Peel

  • Avoid hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, and excessively hot showers.

  • Avoid swimming.

  • Avoid aerobic exercise or strenuous activity.

For 7 Days Post-Peel

  • Avoid waxing, threading, electrolysis, or any facial hair removal.

  • Do not use facial scrubs or mechanical forms of exfoliation

  • Do not apply ice or ice water to your face

For 14 Days Post-Peel

  • Do not tan or use tanning booths.

  • Avoid facial scrubs or any mechanical exfoliation.

  • Avoid active ingredients such as:

    • Retinoic acid

    • Alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs)

    • Beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs)

  • Avoid laser hair removal, photo facials, chemical peels, or microdermabrasion.

Your aesthetician may recommend a series of peels to achieve your desired results.
