Microneedling

Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that stimulates collagen and elastin production by creating micro-punctures to the skin. It enhances your skin's texture and complexion by diminishing surface scarring, reducing the visibility of fine wrinkles, and improving the appearance of large pores.

What are the Benefits?

  • improves the appearance of acne scars, fine lines, and wrinkles

  • shrinks pore size

  • lightens the appearance of hyperpigmentation and sunspots, and improves uneven skin tone

  • increases skin elasticity

  • reduces the appearance of stretch marks

What can I expect in my session?

Before coming to your microneedling appointment, do not apply any makeup or skin products. Our aesthetician will apply a special numbing cream to your skin prior to your treatment. Your microneedling session will take approximately 30 minutes depending on the areas being treated. Initial redness and mild swelling will appear during your treatment, and generally subsides within 24-72 hours after.

What is the post-procedure care?

After your treatment, our aesthetician will apply a hyaluronic acid mask to sooth and hydrate your skin. The following day, you may resume a gentle skin care routine, and be sure to apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen. You may apply makeup 1-2 days after treatment.

Do not go swimming for at least 24 hours post-treatment. No exercising or strenuous activity for the first 24 hours post-treatment. Sweating and gym environments are harmful, rife with bacteria, and may cause adverse reactions. Avoid direct sun exposure for the next 1-2 weeks.

When will I see results?

You may begin to see results as quickly as after your first session, though lasting and more significant results will become visible after 3-6 treatments (spaced 4-6 weeks apart). The condiition of your skin will continue to improve over the next 6-12 months after a course of treatments especially when combined with the recommended post-treatment care.

Am I a good candidate for microneedling?

Microneedling is not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or have a history of skin cancer or keloid scarring. You cannot undergo a microneedling treatment while on Accutane and you must have been off this medication for 6 months prior. You cannot have a fresh tan within the past 2 weeks prior to your microneedling session. If you have a history of cold sores, we recommend pre-treating with an antiviral medication. We recommend stopping topical retinol 5-7 prior to your treatment, as well as medications that thin the blood, such as ibuprofen, unless your doctor recommends that you remain on the medication for medical reasons. Please contact us to find out if you are good candidate for this treatment.
