Lumecca (IPL)
Discover a superior solution to improve your skin complexion.
What is LUMECCA?
LUMECCA is the most powerful intense pulse light (IPL) to treat pigmented and vascular lesions, and to provide a light collagen stimulation and glow.
What are the benefits?
In as little as three to five sessions, LUMECCA improves the appearance of:
Age spots (Red/brown pigmentation)
Vascular lesions such as facial telangietasias (spider veins)
Rosacea (redness)
Freckles
Sun damage
Is LUMECCA right for me?
LUMECCA can be used on most skin type and our aesthetician can advise if it is safe for you.
It is not recommended if: you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a history of skin cancer or keloid scarring, or a history of melasma. You cannot undergo a LUMECCA reatment while on Accutane and you must have been off this medication for 6 months prior. You cannot have a fresh tan within the past 2 weeks prior to your LUMECCA session. If you have a history of cold sores, we recommend pre-treating with an antiviral medication. We recommend stopping topical retinol 5-7 prior to your treatment. Please contact us to find out if you are good candidate for this treatment.
What areas can be safely treated?
Lumecca can be used on all areas of the body. The most common treatment areas are those exposed to the sun - face, neck, décolletage, legs, hands, and arms.
What steps are required before treatment?
Avoid tanning and excessive sun exposure for 2 weeks prior to your treatment. Avoid applying retinol 5-7 days prior to your treatment.
What should I expect during and after treatment?
During your treatment, you will be given protective eyewear. LUMECCA emits a bright light to treat your skin, and you will experience a sensation on your skin that is similar to a slight snap from an elastic band. It is normal to experience redness and a light warming of the skin which usually subsides within an hour. You may see a darkening of pigmented spots over the next 24-48 hours, and these will continue to flake off in the next 1-2 weeks. These may be apparent with continued sessions over time.
How many sessions are required?
Three to five sessions are generally required to achieve optimal results.
Are there side effects?
Side effects are uncommon and any skin reactions typically resolve within a few hours. It is advised to avoid direct sunlight and tanning as light sensitivity may be experienced immediately after treatment and for the next 1-2 weeks afterward.
